New ‘Introduction to Special Collections’ Sessions

The Research Centre team at Special Collections have started new ‘Introduction to Special Collections’ drop-in sessions every Wednesday from 2:00-5:00pm.  The sessions are designed to help students become better acquainted with archive material and how to use it for their own research.

Held in the Research Centre, the sessions will be led by a member of the team who will talk students through everything they need to know regarding Special Collections.  This includes:

  • how to search the catalogue
  • how to make an appointment and request items
  • what to expect when they visit

After the introduction students are welcome to stick around and ask any questions.  The team will be on hand to offer support if students would like to have a go at searching the catalogue and identifying material for their own research.

The sessions are suitable for students at any level who want or need to use Special Collections material but are perhaps unsure how to get started. There is no need to book, just turn up!

The Special Collections Research Centre can be found on Level 4 of the Brotherton Library.
