While the Galleries are closed, we’ve been working hard to make sure that our visitors can still get their creative fix from the comfort of their own homes.

Join us every week on social media for our virtual Sketch Club and Pen to Paper sessions.

The premise of Sketch Club is simple. We provide an image and all you have to do is recreate it. But don’t forget to share your creations with us, by tagging @LULGalleries and #LULGalleries. We post a different focus every Friday at 12:30 so settle down in your comfiest chair and enjoy looking at works from our Art Collection that you may never have noticed before. Use your free time to hone your sketching skills, chat with fellow art appreciators online or simply indulge your creativity.

Pen to Paper is the new kid on the block. Having started only last year, we have built a regular cohort of visitors to our creative writing session. The Galleries may be closed, but we’re certainly not going to deny you a weekly Pen to Paper! Grab your favourite pen and be poised ready as we post a different “Wednesday Focus” on Twitter at 12:30 every week. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced writer, all are welcome so hone your writing skills and get those creative juices flowing. We love reading all of your wonderful writing, don’t forget to share your creations with us and tag @LULGalleries and #LULGalleries.

We’ve already had some fabulous sketches sent in by our followers, who are clearly a very talented bunch.

Missed the weekly focus? No worries. You can join in at any time and share your work with us whenever you fancy. It’s the Sketch Club and Pen to Paper you know and love but on your terms. You never know what you might create.

But that’s not all. Visit our social media channels to discover Public Art videos, Tuesday Treasures and even use your detective skills to figure out our Mystery Object. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more of your virtual heritage fix.
